In and Out of the Kitchen

In and Out of the Kitchen is irresistible. This is a sly comedy by and starring Miles Jupp and Justin Edwards of the Consultants fame. He plays a cookery writer who so closely resembles a real one, much read and seen, that it adds an extra frisson to every radio adventure. The spoof recipes would deserve a health warning if they weren't so blissfully silly.

01. This first episode finds Damien and his partner, Anthony, deciding on their New Year's resolutions. They start by finally making up their minds to commit to each other, namely by signing up a builder, Mr Mullaney, to install a new kitchen which Damien hopes will eventually become the food and preparation space that he's always dreamed of. Anthony also decides to get fit and Damien decides to do a radio programme about the French bean. But not everything goes according to plan. The programme also features Damien's easy-to-follow recipes: Super Simple Roast Beef and Marvellously Moist Muffins.

02. Damien is reluctantly drawn into accepting a job for a supermarket's online magazine, while Anthony resolves to start the 'courgette diet'.

03. Damien and Anthony go on holiday so that their builder can crack on with the kitchen improvements. Contains recipes for pasta puttanesca, Cornish pasties and pilchards al limone.

04. Anthony's 'sensitive' goddaughter Libby comes to stay, and Damien is asked to make a pilot for his own cookery show. Includes Damien's recipes for crepes Suzette, and beef Oxford.
